Lee’s Personal Story with Yoga

I do yoga to heal and look deeper at myself and my life.  My yoga doesn’t just include physical asana, although this is an important part of keeping the body healthy, but also meditation, breath work and mantra.

I first started yoga in college.  I was a dancer and thought it was a nice compliment to my dance conditioning and a way to become more flexible.  When I was 25 I was in a serious car accident with a drunk driver.  I had to take 6 months away from exercising.  Yoga became a way to recover, both physically and emotionally.  This time period is when I discovered the healing power of yoga and dedicated a large portion of my life to the practice.  Learning to breathe helped me prevent panic attacks, when in a car.  Asana helped to heal my body, and resolve tension and pain.  And the consistency allowed me to calm my mind and improve my focus.

I originally went to yoga teacher training to learn more, and no intention of teaching.  I have always been shy and introverted, and teaching helped me to find my voice.  I found I had a passion for sharing this healing practice with others.  I love being a student.  I read constantly and attend trainings whenever I have the opportunity.

I think it’s important as a teacher to continue to learn and develop.

What Students are Saying…

“Lee’s energy lights you up after you’ve spent time with her. She has an amazing gift to make people feel empowered in their movement and I love how carefully she gives students attention in her classes. I always leave a class with Lee feeling like I’ve got a little extra smile in my soul and ambition to meet the day playfully and full of life.

I’m grateful we have teachers like her.”

— Tatiana Rathke, student

“I started taking Lee’s vinyasa class during the beginning of the pandemic and they have literally been my rock. She teaches with just the right amount of pushing- your practice advances but you don’t feel too overwhelmed. I always leave her class feeling grounded, present, and strong.”

— Cheri Wallen, student

“Each one of Lee's classes is an absolute gift. The space she creates is one of safety, accessibility and honesty; every class is an opportunity to both strengthen and soften. Further, Lee will always take you beyond your physical practice and into a place of reflection and learning. As a dedicated practitioner, I find myself drawn to Lee's classes for these reasons. To me, accessibility is the mark of a gifted teacher. Her ability to convey clear, concise and safe cues is art. Whether you're beginning your yoga journey or looking to deepen your practice, Lee will offer answers along the way. ”
